The Thai entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Psyroj Sanguaribut, a renowned actor from the 1980s, who died peacefully at age 72 on June 3, 2025. Psyroj, born on May 18, 2496, in Srisawat district, Kanchanaburi, was a beloved figure known for his roles in popular films and television dramas, especially his iconic character 'Tumm' in the film 'Wai A-luan' (1976), which made him a household name among Thai youth. He was celebrated for his lively, sincere, and warm personality, embodying the spirit of Thai teenagers of the 70s. Besides acting, Psyroj was also a respected film director and was honored with his handprint at the Thai Film Archive in 2009 for his contributions to Thai cinema. His family has deep roots in the entertainment industry, including his father Karam Sanguaribut, his sister Jirapa, and his uncle Phratch Sanguaribut, a National Artist. Psyroj studied electronics at Bangkok Technical College and earned a master's degree in communication arts from Krirk University. His death was confirmed by the Facebook page 'Dara Phap Phim,' with funeral rites scheduled at Wat Makut Kasattriyaram Ratchaworawihan, beginning June 4. The industry and fans remember him as a talented and charismatic figure who left a lasting legacy in Thai film and television.
