Thailand Customs and Port Authorities Collaborate to Enhance Container Security with Electronic Scanning System

The Customs Department of Thailand and the Port Authority of Thailand (กทท.) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to connect electronic data systems for container inspection using X-ray scanners. This initiative aims to improve security measures at ports, reduce costs, and increase efficiency for businesses involved in import and export activities. The collaboration aligns with the international ISPS Code standards, promoting transparency, safety, and effective data sharing among government agencies. This project is a significant step towards making Thailand a regional logistics hub under the government's Ignite Thailand policy, which focuses on strengthening trade infrastructure and competitiveness. Officials from both agencies emphasized that integrating technology will facilitate faster, safer operations, and support the country's economic growth by streamlining port management and cargo inspection processes.
