Yucatán Hosts Final Stage of Inaugural Inter-High School Sports Games with 1,200 Youth Participants

The final stage of the inaugural Inter-High School Games took place in Yucatán, with 1,200 young athletes competing across various sports. Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena inaugurated the event at the Kukulcán Sports Unit, emphasizing the importance of sports as a tool for youth development, discipline, and healthy competition. The event, which began in October with over 200 teams participating in volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball, saw 64 teams advance to the final phase. Díaz Mena highlighted the role of sports in fostering values, promoting discipline, and providing opportunities for youth to thrive, rejecting drugs and vices. The director of the Yucatán Sports Institute, Armín Lizama Córdova, noted that these games are a significant step in promoting youth sports and strengthening community values. The event aims to support the state's strategy of 'Allies for Life' and encourage young people to pursue healthy lifestyles through sports and culture.
