A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of eastern Alaska, warning residents to expect up to 11 inches of snowfall. The National Weather Service in Fairbanks stated that between six and eleven inches are possible in the Eastern Alaskan Range through Thursday night, with heavy rates reaching half an inch per hour on sections of the Richardson Highway. Travelers were warned of hazardous conditions on roads, bridges, and overpasses.

While much of the United States remains warm under a heat advisory in California, four other states have received frost or freeze alerts as temperatures dropped into the low 30s Fahrenheit overnight Thursday into Friday morning. Offices in North Dakota and Minnesota issued warnings for freezing temps near thirty degrees, while Wisconsin and Colorado faced frost advisories.

Meanwhile, fresh snow has already arrived in Anchorage with vigor on Wednesday, affecting higher elevations including Eagle River and the hillside. A rain/snow mix is expected to continue over Southcentral Alaska through Thursday night before shifting back to rain for Southeast regions like Haines and Skagway.
