Video of Escaped Inmate Antoine Massey Under Investigation Amid Manhunt
Authorities are investigating a circulating online video that appears to show Antoine Massey, an inmate still at large following a jailbreak from Orleans Justice Center. The video, which authorities have not confirmed as authentic, features Massey requesting media circulation of the clip. Law enforcement, including Louisiana State Police, FBI, NOPD, and OPSO, are working to verify its validity. Sheriff Susan Hutson urged Massey to surrender himself, emphasizing the importance of justice and due process. A $50,000 reward is offered for information leading to Massey’s arrest, with tips encouraged via Crimestoppers. Meanwhile, a bounty hunter with prior experience capturing Massey, Matt Dennis, believes it’s only a matter of time before Massey is caught. Dennis highlighted Massey’s history of escape, including cutting off his ankle monitor in November 2023 and being recaptured within hours. He suggested that Massey and Derrick Groves, another escapee linked to multiple murders, likely had external help and resources, but that they will eventually be forced out of hiding, especially as the reward money increases. Massey, wanted for rape, kidnapping, domestic abuse, and theft, and Groves, linked to four killings, remain on the run 18 days after the escape. Law enforcement has already recaptured two inmates out of nine who escaped, and the public is urged to remain vigilant. The case has attracted significant media attention, with social media videos and law enforcement efforts playing a central role in the ongoing manhunt.
