Disney Fully Integrates Hulu Into Disney+ by 2026

Disney is fully merging Hulu into its flagship Disney+ streaming service, with a unified app launching in 2026. This move follows Disney's acquisition of NBCUniversal's 33% stake in Hulu for approximately $9 billion, completing its full ownership. The integrated app will allow users to access both Disney+ and Hulu content through a single platform, offering more choices, personalized experiences, and operational efficiencies. Subscribers will still be able to purchase stand-alone Hulu and Disney+ subscriptions, and bundled options will continue. Additionally, Hulu will become Disney's global general entertainment brand, replacing the Star brand internationally starting in fall 2025. The merger aims to lower churn, boost engagement, and enhance ad sales opportunities, with improvements in technology and user experience planned. Hulu's live TV service will also be merged with Fubo under a joint venture, with full integration into Disney+ expected in 2026. Disney's CEO Bob Iger emphasized that the unified platform will provide a comprehensive package of entertainment, including general entertainment, family programming, news, and live sports.
