Nio's ES8 Achieves 40,000 Deliveries in 100 Days, Setting Record Speed
Nio's third-generation ES8, a large electric SUV, has reached a milestone of 40,000 units delivered just 11 days after hitting 30,000 units, indicating a rapid sales pace. The model was launched on September 20, 2025, and within 100 days, Nio delivered approximately 20,000 units in December alone, with a monthly delivery rate reaching 27,000 units. The ES8's production capacity was sold out within two days of launch, and the company aims to produce 40,000 units this year despite ongoing supply chain challenges, particularly with batteries. Nio delivered 36,275 vehicles in November, with the ES8 accounting for a record 10,689 deliveries that month. The model has contributed significantly to Nio’s record quarterly and annual delivery targets, although the company has revised its 2025 delivery guidance downward from an initial 443,000 to around 321,000-326,000 units. Despite supply constraints, demand remains high, with waiting times up to six months. Nio's CEO William Li highlighted that the ES8 is the fastest model priced above RMB 400,000 to reach such a milestone in China. The company continues to expand its lineup with limited editions and new models, and is involved in innovative projects such as vehicle-to-grid demonstrations. The strong sales of the ES8, along with other models like the Onvo L90 and Firefly, position Nio as a leading player in the Chinese EV market, competing with Tesla's Model Y L, which also sold out its 2025 allocation.
