Miami Dolphins Near Finalizing Jon-Eric Sullivan as New General Manager Amid Coaching Changes

The Miami Dolphins are close to hiring Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Sullivan, who has been the vice president of player personnel for the Green Bay Packers since 2022, will replace Chris Grier, who left the organization in October after serving since 2000. Sullivan, aged 50, has a deep football background, with his father Jerry coaching in college and the NFL for nearly 40 years, including a stint as Dolphins' wide receivers coach in 2004. Sullivan's career began as an intern in 2003 with the Packers, rising through various scouting roles to his current VP position. He was also considered by other NFL teams, including the Raiders, Jets, and Titans. Notably supported by Hall of Famer Troy Aikman, Sullivan's first major task will be to find a new head coach following Mike McDaniel's firing after four seasons. He will also need to address quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's future, with the team finishing 7-10 and missing the playoffs for the seventh time in nine seasons. The Dolphins are scheduled to pick 11th overall in the upcoming NFL Draft, with free agency and roster rebuilding expected to be key focuses.
