Magic: The Gathering Unveils Avatar: The Last Airbender Crossover Set
The upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, releasing on November 21, 2025, is a crossover with Avatar: The Last Airbender, featuring mechanics based on the four bending elements—air, water, earth, and fire. The set introduces new gameplay mechanics such as airbending, exemplified by the card Appa, Steadfast Guardian, which exiles permanents and recasts them for reduced mana, and waterbending with cards like Katara, Water Tribe’s Hope, which can boost the power and toughness of all creatures. Earthbending is represented by Toph, the First Metalbender, who turns lands into creatures with +1/+1 counters, while firebending includes Fire Lord Zuko, generating mana and boosting other creatures. The set also features returning mechanics like Allies, Lessons, and Shrines, with cards depicting iconic characters and locations from the series. Notable cards include the legendary Shrine Southern Air Temple, which enhances other creatures, and Lesson spells like Redirect Lightning, which can change spell targets. Sagas such as The Rise of Sozin depict epic stories from the series, transforming into powerful creatures. Preorders are available now, with various booster packs and special collector products. The set will also be available on Magic Arena from November 18. Wizards of the Coast aims to appeal to both Magic players and Avatar fans, offering unique art treatments, special foil and frame variants, and collectible items like borderless cards and scene boxes. Additional reveals and details are expected in upcoming events, with prerelease tournaments scheduled from November 14-20.
