Luigi Mangione Listens to Taylor Swift and Charli XCX in Jail Amid Legal Battles

Luigi Mangione, 27, the accused in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has revealed that he has been listening to pop music, including Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, while in detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. In a letter from June, Mangione explained that he downloaded songs by both artists onto his prison tablet following a viral social media list of his supposed favorite artists, which he claims is false. He initially listened to Taylor Swift’s ‘Cardigan’ during laps in his cell, but his fellow inmate, known as ‘King,’ scolded him and replaced his music with Lil Durk’s ‘Dis Ain’t What U Want,’ which Mangione now favors. Despite facing serious federal and state charges for the December 2024 shooting of Thompson, Mangione maintains his innocence and has been described as a model prisoner. He has also raised over $1.3 million for his legal defense. His case continues with upcoming court dates, while he finds comfort in pop music during his incarceration.
