Multiple bus accidents in northern Vietnam have resulted in at least 7 to 9 fatalities. A charity group's bus overturned in Lao Cai Province, killing 9 teachers and injuring 9 others. The bus crashed into a guardrail on a downhill stretch, possibly due to brake failure, before flipping over. Rescue teams used specialized equipment to extricate survivors from the heavily damaged vehicle. The incident occurred while the group was en route to volunteer at a school in Ta Ghenh village. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Additionally, a passenger coach in Lao Cai overturned, killing 7 people and injuring several others, with early reports suggesting brake failure as a possible cause. Road accidents involving buses and trucks are common in Vietnam, often attributed to speeding or mechanical failure. Statistics show that in the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam experienced 8,515 road deaths and 10,204 injuries, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on Vietnamese roads.
