Harrison Bader Signs Two-Year Deal with Giants in NL West

Outfielder Harrison Bader has agreed to a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the San Francisco Giants, pending a physical, according to reports from MLB Network insider Jon Heyman and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Bader, 31, had a career-best season in 2025, playing for the Twins and Phillies, with a .277/.347/.449 batting line, 17 home runs, 24 doubles, and 11 stolen bases in 501 plate appearances. He also provided elite defensive play in the outfield, ranking among the top in Outs Above Average (OAA) and Defensive Runs Saved (DRS). His move to the Giants is expected to solidify their outfield defense, with Bader likely stepping in as the everyday center fielder, replacing Jung Hoo Lee, who might shift to right field. The contract enhances the Giants' payroll, bringing it close to $195 million, still below the luxury tax threshold. Bader's signing marks his third consecutive offseason as a free agent, after stints with the Yankees, Reds, Mets, Twins, and Phillies, and is viewed as a valuable defensive addition with offensive upside.
