Severe Weather and Crime Updates in Las Vegas: Floods, Snow, and Incidents

Las Vegas is experiencing significant weather disruptions with a flood watch and winter storm warning in effect. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Lake Mead, Las Vegas, Clark County, and southern Nye County starting Monday night through late Tuesday night, with heavy rain expected from around 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Flooding is possible, and rainfall could reach 0.5 to 1 inch, with higher amounts locally. A winter storm warning is in place for the Sheep Range and Spring Mountains from 10 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Wednesday, predicting a mixture of rain and snow, with snow accumulation of 5 to 10 inches above 7,000 feet, and up to 24 inches above 9,000 feet. The storm has led to rain in the valley, with temperatures in the 50s, about 10 degrees below normal, and mountain snow. The weather is expected to bring frequent rain, thunderstorms, and mountain snow through Friday, with snow levels dropping from 7,000 to 6,000 feet overnight. The city is also dealing with several serious incidents, including a road rage shooting that resulted in the death of an 11-year-old, a juvenile hit and killed near the Historic Westside, and a suspect in the shooting being held without bail. Flooding, crashes, and violence are ongoing concerns, with police actively addressing crime and public safety. Meanwhile, the Nevada Legislature is in session, and the House has passed a bill to release Epstein files, which now moves to the Senate. The week ahead is expected to bring more rain, thunderstorms, and mountain snow, impacting travel and daily life in the Las Vegas area.
