Nebraska Loses Commitment from 2026 QB Dayton Raiola as Recruitment Reopens
Nebraska has lost its commitment from Dayton Raiola, a three-star quarterback from Buford High School in Georgia, who had committed to the Cornhuskers in September 2024. Raiola, the younger brother of current Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola and son of former Husker All-American center Dominic Raiola, decided to reopen his recruitment just weeks before National Signing Day. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 225 pounds, he ranks as the No. 99 quarterback and No. 158 player in Georgia for 2026. His decommitment marks the fourth from Nebraska’s class, which currently ranks 77th nationally and 18th in the Big Ten, with only nine commitments. Raiola has thrown over 3,600 yards and 43 touchdowns in his high school career, leading Buford to deep playoff runs. The top schools vying to recruit him include Appalachian State, Charlotte, Georgia, Alabama, and Nebraska, with Georgia and Alabama having strong ties through his brother Dylan and family history. Nebraska’s recruiting struggles continue, but the program might focus on the 2027 cycle, where they already have five commitments including highly rated prospects.
