Major Cast Changes and Production Delays in Upcoming TV Series

The CBS series 'CIA,' a spin-off of the 'FBI' franchise, is experiencing significant cast and production changes. Eriq La Salle has exited as executive producer, and series regular Michael Michele, who played the head of the CIA's New York Station, has also left the project. The show, starring Tom Ellis as a rule-breaking CIA officer and Nick Gehlfuss as a by-the-book FBI agent, was initially scheduled to premiere in fall 2025 but has been pushed to midseason 2026. The departure of Michele, who was set to be a central character, raises questions about recasting or rewriting storylines, with no official comment from CBS yet. The series underwent a showrunner change in July, with Warren Leight replacing David Hudgins, and is currently filming in New York. La Salle, who had been involved since before the showrunner switch, is focusing on his writing career following his departure. Meanwhile, other casting news includes Cole Escola joining Netflix's 'One Piece' Season 3 as a non-binary character Bon Clay, and Pamela Adlon guest-starring on ABC's 'Shifting Gears.' Additionally, Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor will star in Hulu's 'The Spot,' and Chloe East has been cast as the lead in Hulu's 'Foster Dade.' Lastly, Tom Ellis' new cop thriller series has lost its lead actor just weeks into filming.
