Texas Inmate James Broadnax Faces Execution After Final Appeals Denied

Texas death row inmate James Broadnax, 37, is scheduled for execution by lethal injection on Thursday for the 2008 double murder of Stephen Swan and Matthew Butler in Garland. Broadnax confessed to the crime, which involved robbing the victims outside a recording studio, and initially expressed no remorse. However, his cousin, Demarius Cummings, has since claimed he was the one who pulled the trigger. The U.S. Supreme Court recently rejected Broadnax's final appeals, clearing the path for his scheduled execution. Broadnax was 19 at the time of the murders and is now set to be the third inmate executed in Texas this year.
