Sebastian Stan Joins 'The Batman 2' with Scarlett Johansson and MCU Alums

Sebastian Stan is in talks to join Robert Pattinson in DC Studios’ ‘The Batman Part II,’ scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. The supporting actor, known for his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Marvel’s MCU, has not been confirmed for a specific role, but speculation suggests he could portray villains like Harvey Dent/Two-Face or other obscure characters. The sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, is expected to begin shooting in spring 2026 in the UK. Scarlett Johansson, also cast in the film, recently joined the supporting cast, which includes returning stars Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Barry Keoghan is expected to reprise his role as the Joker. Johansson and Stan previously worked together in Marvel’s Avengers and the Netflix film ‘The Devil All the Time.’ While the film is not officially part of the new DC Universe launched by James Gunn and Peter Safran, it is developed under their banner. Reeves aims to top his critically acclaimed first ‘The Batman,’ with a script by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. The film’s production is highly secretive, with the story kept under wraps. Stan’s recent work includes ‘Thunderbolts’ and ‘A Different Man,’ for which he received an Oscar nomination. His upcoming projects include ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and the thriller ‘Fjord.’ DC Studios has not commented on Stan’s casting. The film’s release is set for October 2027.
