Spurs Confirm Fox, Castle, and Harper Start Opening Night

San Antonio head coach Mitch Johnson confirmed that De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper will start on opening night of the 2026-27 regular season. The trio began Wednesday's preseason win against the Phoenix Suns with a combined score of 14 points in just over nine minutes before being substituted for Victor Wembanyama due to fatigue. Despite limited playing time earlier, the Spurs' three-guard experiment proved successful as they exploded for 38 points in the second quarter and won 123-103. San Antonio trailed by one point after the first period but rallied to secure a victory that head coach Johnson deemed an early success. Victor Wembanyama praised the lineup, noting that having handlers all around him makes playmaking easier for his teammates.
