Sir Ranulph Fiennes' stepson has launched a crowdfunding campaign targeting £55,000 to hire legal experts who will attempt to locate and safeguard the explorer. Alexander Millington-Cotes seeks to revoke his mother's lasting power of attorney, which currently restricts visitors from seeing him in various care homes where he lives under assumed names. Friends and family express deep concern over Fiennes' isolation since 2024 following a diagnosis with Parkinson's disease.

Relatives describe the situation as painfully isolating for an individual who is not used to being hidden away. While Cheshire Police state there are no immediate safeguarding concerns, reports indicate that visitors previously had to sign non-disclosure agreements before seeing him. Fiennes' wife, Louise Millington-Cotes, has reportedly refused requests from King Charles and others to facilitate contact with her husband.

The stepson's fundraiser raised nearly £3,000 on Saturday alone as he urges the public for support in resolving what his family views as a critical welfare issue.
