Mayo Clinic Launches World's First Low-Dose Radiation Trial For Parkinson's

200

Researchers at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, are conducting the world's first clinical trial to test if low-dose radiation therapy can slow the progression of Parkinson's disease by targeting inflammation. Unlike standard cancer treatments that use high doses to destroy tissue, this study uses very low, targeted doses to reduce inflammatory processes without damaging brain cells. The prospective trial involves patients aged 45 to 75 with early-stage Parkinson's not linked to known genetic causes and aims to enroll only 20 participants by invitation.
