French tennis player Quentin Halys has advanced in the qualifying rounds of the Dubai ATP 500 tournament, placing him one victory away from securing a spot in the main draw. Halys, currently ranked No. 72 in the ATP rankings and a semifinalist at this event last year, defeated Christopher O’Connell with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hour and 16 minutes. His next opponent in the final qualifying round will be Alexander Shevchenko, who won his match against Nikoloz Basilashvili 7-6, 6-4. Fellow Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard also progressed by defeating Shintaro Mochizuki 6-1, 7-6, and will face Jan Choinski. Both Halys and Mpetshi Perricard are now one match shy of joining other French players like Arthur Fils, Arthur Rinderknech, Valentin Royer, and Ugo Humbert, who have already qualified for the main draw.
