Moderate Earthquake in Portugal and Seismic Risk Focus in the South
A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 was felt in central and northern Portugal, with its epicenter located between Celorico da Beira and Fornos de Algodres in the district of Guarda, at a depth of 20 kilometers. The quake was reported around 00:38 Saturday and was felt across a wide area from Ferreira do Zêzere in the south to Barcelos in the north, including Coimbra, Porto, Viseu, and Covilhã. No damages have been reported so far. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) confirmed the event. Meanwhile, IPMA states that the highest seismic danger is concentrated in the southern part of Portugal, despite the recent moderate quake in the north.
