Pedro Martinez Rejects Minor League Offer From Yankees GM

Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez revealed that his potential move from Philadelphia to New York ended when General Manager Brian Cashman demanded he first play in the minor leagues. Speaking on TNT Sports U.S., Martinez explained he refused because he had promised himself never to return down there after leaving as a major leaguer, despite being offered a guaranteed big-league contract afterward. Although Martinez is now a Yankees fan and once asked for trades three times during his time with Montreal, Cashman's condition prevented him from ever wearing the pinstripes.
