Virginia Hosts Northeastern in Nonconference Basketball Matchup

No. 9 Virginia Men's Basketball will host Northeastern on Friday at John Paul Jones Arena for a non-conference matchup beginning at 5:00 PM ET, airing live on the ACC Network and streamed online via ESPN.com/watch.

Virginia enters this contest with an undefeated record of one win after defeating Drexel in their season opener. The Cavaliers are seeking to improve their all-time series against Northeastern, currently standing at two wins for Virginia following a 56-54 victory on December 16, 2023.

Key players returning from the previous season include Thijs De Ridder, who earned All-ACC first-team honors and scored 24 points in his last game; Sam Lewis; Chance Mallory; Elijah Gertrude; Martin Carrere; Carter Lang; Silas Barksdale; Desmond Roberts; and Owen Odom. Virginia also welcomes eight newcomers to the roster.

Northeastern enters as an underdog with a losing record of zero wins and one loss, having lost 93-85 to Boston University in their most recent game on Monday. The Huskies feature Rashad King, a graduate guard who averaged 18.5 points per game during the 2024-2025 season before transferring.

This contest marks Virginia's second consecutive home game against an opponent from the former Colonial Athletic Association after their win over Drexel.
