Knicks Host Nets as World Champion Seeks Early Campaign Win

On Monday evening at Madison Square Garden, the defending NBA champion New York Knicks will host the Brooklyn Nets in an Eastern Conference matchup on November 2, 2026. The Knicks are seeking a clean victory to halt their early-season slump and improve their standing after starting with two wins and four losses. They recently defeated LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers at home before this game.

Brooklyn aims to end its losing streak against New York, which dates back to January 2023 when Julius Randle was a Knick and Kyrie Irving played for Brooklyn. The Nets are currently one loss behind their rivals with a record of five losses and one win after taking an early lead in Indiana.

Key players include Knicks stars Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, and Julius Randle, while the Nets rely on OAKAAKUYOAK Julius Randle (noting his recent trade history) alongside Michael Porter Jr. Moritz Wagner provides energy off the bench for Brooklyn.

Several key players are unavailable: Egor Dëmin is out due to a right leg bone bruise; Joshua Jefferson, Ben Saraf, Tyler Bilodeau, and Grant Nelson have been assigned to the G League or Two-Way contracts. Knicks starter Jose Alvarado remains questionable with a left ankle sprain.
