Timberwolves Confirm Edwards Undergoes Knee Surgery

10K

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that star guard Anthony Edwards will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to address lingering pain. President of basketball operations Tim Connelly stated the procedure is necessary for Edwards' long-term health, noting new damage was detected in a recent MRI not seen during prior scans.

Edwards missed 61 games last season due to similar issues and recently suffered additional injury in the playoffs. Despite scoring 47 points against Cleveland earlier this week while listed as questionable, Connelly explained that Edwards consented to the operation despite his frustration with missing time on court.

The surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning, following which officials expect a clearer timeline for his return later in the season.
