Court documents reveal this policy applies across all platforms and game installments, from console generations to annual releases like NBA 2K26 and NBA 2K27. While Take-Two is best known for its Grand Theft Auto franchise, it also publishes titles such as Borderlands and PGA Tour alongside the popular sports simulator. The developers stated in legal filings that they lack a technical solution for currency migration between games. Furthermore, company representatives argue against transfers to ensure every player starts with equal opportunities regardless of their history with previous installments. Implementing this feature would require distinguishing between earned virtual credits and those purchased directly, which demands significant resources that 2K currently does not intend to allocate.
