Slovakian teenager Mia Pohankova defeated four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka 6-3, 7-5 in the round of 16 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Thursday. The match marked Pohankova's best performance to date and her first main-draw quarterfinal appearance at a WTA Tour event after she advanced from being a wild-card entrant who turned 18 last week.
