Mason Marchment Plays New Goal Song As First Shark Season

On Thursday night at the SAP Center in San Jose, Mason Marchment scored his first goal of the season against the Florida Panthers to kick off a new era for the Sharks. Immediately following the play, fans cheered as Green Day's "Holiday" blasted through the arena, marking the debut of the team's updated anthem.

The NHL club replaced its long-standing track with this selection after months of backlash over public outcry regarding an AI-generated song that previously dominated their goal celebrations since 2016. Following a social media announcement featuring defenseman Sam Dickinson on September 21, fans selected "Power Bite" from four options created by producer BVRNOUT for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.

Although this new track was initially debuted against the Vegas Golden Knights in October 2025 to a sold-out crowd, it received minimal play during that game. Marchment's goal on Thursday signaled full adoption of the anthem by supporters who had previously rejected the controversial previous choice.
