The actor, known for playing Nick Hudson on the NBC soap opera "Another World" from 1996 to 1999, passed away surrounded by loved ones after his death certificate listed September 23 as the date of passing.
Born in Saint Charles, Illinois, Mortimer served in the U.S. Army and worked as a model before pursuing acting professionally. His television debut came on "Another World," where he succeeded Justin Chambers and Kevin McClatchy in the role. He later appeared in a 1999 episode of "Spin City" and acted in the 2005 film "The Nowhere Man." In interviews, Mortimer credited fellow cast members for helping him learn his craft during his time on the soap opera.
Mortimer is survived by his wife Christie, whom he married after being together for twenty-five years. He also leaves behind their daughter Hunter and a construction company called Inside Out Construction that he co-founded with his wife.
