Islanders Host Lightning in America 250 Night Preview

The New York Islanders return to UBS Arena on Saturday night for a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning during America's 250th anniversary celebration, with proceeds from autographed jerseys benefiting the Islanders Children's Foundation. The home team arrives having defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 recently, where Bo Horvat scored twice and Ilya Sorokin extended his shutout streak to over four hours. Conversely, Tampa Bay won their third consecutive game against Minnesota in a close match, aided by John Carlson's two goals which also ended their power play drought of fourteen games; however, the Lightning have lost in the first round of playoffs for the past four seasons despite consistent scoring and star players like Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy. Islanders head coach Pete DeBoer views this matchup as a critical early-season test to unify his roster following recent lineup changes and injuries.
