Salmonella and Contamination Risks Lead to Dog Food and Product Recalls in Germany
Multiple recent recalls in Germany highlight significant food safety concerns. The DOG'S NATURE GmbH has issued an urgent recall of its dog snack product, Dog, Rinderkaustange, due to Salmonella contamination found in the batch with a best-before date of March 1, 2027. Although dogs are typically resilient to Salmonella, symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and vomiting can occur, and there is a risk of cross-contamination to humans, especially vulnerable groups. Consumers are advised to return affected products without a receipt for a full refund. Similarly, Penny stores and Kaufland have removed certain dog treats from shelves after Salmonella was detected. The products, including chicken necks and other snacks, are considered unsafe for consumption. The companies have urged customers to return these items and assured full refunds. In addition to pet food recalls, several human food products are affected. Colussi S.p.A. has recalled Amaretti Almonds cookies due to elevated levels of cyanide (hydrogen cyanide), and the Clama GmbH & Co. KG has pulled its 'TK 8 Kräuter' frozen herb mix after Salmonella was detected. Other recalls include Listeria-contaminated smoked fish from Laschinger Seafood, and glass fragments found in various products from Grossmann Feinkost. Further, there are recalls of consumer products such as Milka chocolate bars with possible plastic fragments, Aldi's 'Asia Green Garden KIMCHI' jars potentially containing glass, and Edeka's sugar sprinkles with undeclared milk allergens. Several non-food items, including Cube bicycles with carbon fork defects and certain Nusskernmischungen, have also been recalled due to safety concerns. Authorities and companies continue to monitor and recall contaminated or unsafe products to protect consumers and pets from health hazards. Consumers are advised to check product labels, avoid using affected items, and return them to stores for refunds.
