2K

Former NFL and college football coach June Jones died Thursday at age 73 after entering hospice care two weeks ago. A former quarterback who pioneered the run-and-shoot offense, he served as head coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 1996 before leading the University of Hawaii (UH) and Southern Methodist University (SMU). Jones became UH's winningest coach with seven victories in nine seasons starting in 1999. His teams recorded three ten-plus win seasons, including an undefeated regular season that led to a Sugar Bowl appearance in 2007. He also guided the Warriors from a 0-12 finish to tie for first place in the Western Athletic Conference during his historic turnaround. After leaving UH due to contract disputes, he coached at SMU and previously served as quarterbacks coach for the San Diego Chargers.
