Trump Demands Paxton-Talarico Debate Amid Talarico's Flu Absence

President Donald Trump called for a debate between Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democratic state Rep. James Talarico as the Texas Senate race heats up, stating on Truth Social that Talarico is "MISSING IN ACTION" and should report immediately to face his opponent. Meanwhile, Talarico's campaign confirmed he has been off the trail for 12 days due to a severe case of the flu, with his last in-person event in Texas occurring on September 26 before visiting urgent care in Dallas. His absence has become political fodder for GOP opponents and President Trump, who emphasized that Paxton is ready while Talarico remains hidden from voters. Talarico's spokesperson noted he will return to campaigning this weekend after shaking hands with tens of thousands during more than 100 prior events.
