James Farthing Arrested on Public Intoxication After Powerball Win

Kentucky Powerball winner James Farthing faces charges after deputies found him asleep and intoxicated inside a running vehicle in a Walmart parking lot. According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, reports were received around 2:57 a.m. on September 20 regarding a white Ford Mustang stopped at an intersection before moving into the store's lot near charging stations. When officers arrived, they discovered Farthing unresponsive inside the car. He only woke up after deputies knocked repeatedly and was subsequently observed displaying signs of impairment including alcohol and marijuana smells, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and balance issues. While a caller claimed he had been dropped off by another driver, surveillance footage showed no one exited the vehicle before law enforcement arrived. Deputies determined Farthing was manifestly under the influence of alcohol due to the risk posed by operating an impaired vehicle. He was arrested at approximately 4:04 a.m. and charged with public intoxication.
