Jamaal Williams Contacts Dan Campbell About NFL Return

Former Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams reached out to head coach Dan Campbell regarding a potential reunion after spending over two years with his previous team. The 31-year-old player, who last played in an NFL game more than 21 months ago following contract disputes and unsuccessful stints with the Saints, expressed his desire for one final chance in professional football while working out to maintain fitness. Williams stated that he wanted no regrets regarding his career by attempting to play again before it was too late.

During his time with Detroit from 2021 to 2022, Williams became a fan favorite and recorded franchise records including 17 rushing touchdowns in the 2022 season. Although he wished to remain in Michigan when free agency arrived in 2023, the Lions selected David Montgomery instead.

Campbell responded that Detroit is currently set at running back but would keep Williams in mind if circumstances change, though no immediate return has been planned.
