Unsolved Case of 'German Key Woman' Resolved After 21 Years with ID of Eva Maria Pommer
The mystery surrounding 'the woman with German keys,' whose body was discovered in 2004 on a secluded Dutch beach, has finally been solved after 21 years. Interpol announced on October 10, 2025, that the woman has been identified as Eva Maria Pommer, a 35-year-old German woman. Her body was found in the dunes of Meijendel near The Hague, dressed in multiple layers of clothing, with several objects indicating her German origin, including three keys. One key had been delivered to a company in Bottrop, Germany, but an archive fire prevented linking it to an address. Despite extensive investigations, the cause of her death remains unknown, and authorities continue to explore whether her death was a crime. The identification was made possible through DNA analysis, following a tip-off from Dutch police, and is part of Interpol’s 'Identify Me' campaign, which aims to solve 47 cold cases of women who died suspiciously over recent decades. This case is the fourth to be solved through the campaign, which relies heavily on public cooperation and media engagement. Interpol emphasizes the importance of international collaboration in bringing closure to families and solving long-standing mysteries.
