The US Coast Guard rescued at least 16 individuals from the Pacific Ocean approximately 120 miles off the coast of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, on Friday morning. A distress call was received around 1:00 AM by a vessel crew reporting their boat had taken on water and carried up to 27 people. Coast Guard personnel from multiple units in California, along with US Navy teams, responded to the emergency. Sixteen survivors were transported to hospitals in San Diego via ambulances; two required critical care while others suffered moderate injuries. Search operations continued throughout the day as no lifeboat was located and victims remained unaccounted for in the water. Coast Guard officials stated that search efforts are ongoing with helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and patrol boats collaborating with Mexican authorities to locate additional survivors.
