Young Trainer Carlin Wendt Excels in Greyhound Racing Success
Carlin Wendt, a 26-year-old emerging greyhound trainer, is experiencing his most successful month since starting his own kennel at Postmans Ridge earlier this year. Having initially entered the sport as an owner, Wendt now trains a team of 15 dogs, with ambitions to expand to 20. Over the past month, he has trained five winners, including three in just 48 hours in early November, reaffirming his training methods. His most successful dog, Lucora, has earned $16,455 in stakes this year with six wins. Wendt's journey began with the purchase of Zipping Peewee, a dog that won 17 races before retiring in late 2023. Mentored by experienced trainers like Ricky Hassall and John Jeffrey, Wendt credits their guidance and his early familiarity with dogs through his grandmother for his rapid development. His recent victories include wins by Chill Pill Jill, Akela Long Shot, and Lucora, with upcoming races featuring these dogs. Wendt emphasizes the importance of good training and strategy, especially for dogs returning from injury or competing against strong trainers. His success story highlights a promising future in greyhound racing for the young trainer.
