Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls has won the American League's Gold Glove award, fulfilling his childhood dream and beating out Bobby Witt Jr. to become the top defensive shortstop in the league for the sixth season of his career. The first Ray to earn this honor since Kevin Kiermaier in 2019 was nominated twice previously but finally secured the title after demonstrating exceptional anticipatory skills that convert batted balls into outs at a higher rate than any other defender.
