Jonathan Frakes Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to Genie Francis

Soap opera legend Genie Francis will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the October 30, 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards. Her longtime husband and Star Trek: The Next Generation star, Jonathan Frakes, is set to present her with the honor during the ceremony.

The couple's romantic history began in 1982 on the set of Bare Essence when Francis was twenty years old. They reconnected three years later while filming a Civil War miniseries titled North and South. According to Frakes, their relationship blossomed after taking a break for Memorial Day that led them to New Orleans thirty-eight years ago.

Kirstie Alley encouraged the pair to pursue their mutual crushes during production on North and South. Francis has described falling in love with Frakes upon seeing him again following their initial introduction.
