Rays Add Garrett Cleavinger to World Series Roster

The Tampa Bay Rays placed rookie right-hander Garrett Cleavinger on their World Series roster, replacing Brody Hopkins in the bullpen position. Although Hopkin was previously included in the American League Championship Series lineup, he had not pitched in a game for nearly a month due to forearm tightness that also kept him out of the final three weeks of the regular season. The Rays activated Cleavinger during the ALDS but did not utilize him against New York before swapping him back with Hopkins for the ALCS. Now, the two pitchers are exchanging roles once more ahead of the championship series. If selected to pitch in the World Series, this would mark only Cleavinger's first appearance since his last start seven weeks ago. He is expected to contribute alongside left-handed relievers Ian Seymour and Cam Booser, who have managed significant innings during their respective appearances.
