Andrew Scott Stars in 'Elsinore' Trailer for AIDS Biopic

Focus Features released a new official trailer for "Elsinore," starring Andrew Scott as Scottish actor Ian Charleson. Directed by Simon Stone and written by Stephen Beresford, the film chronicles Charleson's final months preparing to play Hamlet at London's National Theatre while battling AIDS.

The production features Olivia Colman in a supporting role alongside an ensemble cast including Billie Piper, Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, Juliet Stevenson, and Peter Mullan. Scott also served as a producer on the project. The film received enthusiastic reviews following its debut screenings at fall festivals, with Deadline's Pete Hammond describing his performance as "heartbreakingly great".

After winning the International People's Choice Award at Toronto earlier this month, "Elsinore" will screen at the London Film Festival before releasing in UK cinemas on January 29, 2027. Focus Features holds U.S. rights and plans a November release date for American audiences.
