Musk Admits Throttling Starlink Service In Ukraine

Elon Musk confirmed on Saturday that his company SpaceX restricted speeds for Starlink internet service used by Ukrainian forces, a move he justified as necessary to prevent the civilian system from being abused for offensive drone strikes. The throttling began last week and disrupted operations relying on satellite links against Russian attacks until President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced their restoration overnight. While Musk stated that Ukraine's military violated terms of service regarding lethal uses of Starlink, he maintained that U.S. government control over the separate military-grade Starshield system prevented similar restrictions from applying to it.
