ICE Officer Shoots DoorDash Driver; Man Held in Detention Center

A Venezuelan man delivering a DoorDash order was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer while driving near Austin, Texas. Wilber Rafael Garces Perez suffered a gunshot wound to the back after the officer sideswiped his vehicle early Sunday morning. According to attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, Perez remains in custody at the South Texas Processing Center with the bullet still lodged close to his spine and without access to pain medication or adequate medical care. The 28-year-old reported severe pain during a phone interview conducted by his lawyer on Monday.
