Darkwing Duck Animated Series Greenlit For Disney+ With Hamill And Rogen

An all-new animated series featuring Darkwing Duck has been greenlit for streaming on Disney+, marking the return of Drake Mallard to his crime-fighting alter ego. The project, developed by creators Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui with original creator Tad Stones providing consultation, follows a narrative where an alternate world unaware of the hero's past forces him into conflict after meeting a rebellious teen named Duckie who knows his history. This unlikely partnership aims to confront arch-enemies such as Negaduck and Megavolt while reuniting with allies including Launchpad McQuack, Gosalyn Mallard, Morgana, and Firecracker for the sake of saving the universe.

The voice cast is headlined by Mark Hamill portraying Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck alongside Seth Rogen as Launchpad McQuack. Supporting roles are filled by Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn Mallard, Lilimar as Duckie, Dan Stevens as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepis as Rosa, Kathryn Newton as Firecracker, Teo Briones as Timb, Tyler Dean Flores as Pondsy, Katie Rich as Officer Shanks, and Nat Faxon as Officer Webb. Production is led by Point Grey Pictures with executive producers Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, Gabby Grantham, Tretta, and Gorostegui.

The original 1991 series created by Tad Stones previously ran for ninety-one episodes featuring Jim Cummings in the title role. The new iteration is described as a dangerous continuation that reverses time to bring Darkwing back into battle against forgotten threats.
