Lauren Boebert Trails Eileen Laubacher in Colorado House Race

200

In the 2026 midterm election for Colorado's fourth congressional district, incumbent Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert is narrowly trailing Democratic challenger Eileen Laubacher as results continue to come in. According to live data from multiple sources including The Associated Press and news outlets like The Denver Post, Laubacher holds a slight lead with approximately 48.75% of the vote compared to Boebert's 47.95%. There remain roughly 3,000 uncounted votes out of a total of about 381,621 cast in the district.

Boebert faces significant challenges this cycle as she is seeking her fourth term while managing sexual misconduct allegations that have led to an ethics complaint filed by David Wheeler. Despite these issues and previous threats from President Trump regarding political endorsements, Boebert maintains a strong base of support among conservative voters and members of the House Freedom Caucus.

Laubacher enters this race as a retired 34-year Navy veteran who previously served in military intelligence roles before transitioning to politics after flipping her party affiliation. Her campaign has significantly outspent Boebert's, which analysts suggest may provide an advantage regarding voter outreach and map strategy. While the Associated Press notes that Laubacher needs only about one percentage point more of the remaining vote to take the lead mathematically at this stage, no official winner has been projected yet due to the closeness of the margin.

Boebert's campaign attorney Scott Gessler stated on Thursday that his team is investigating unusual voting patterns and indicated a potential recount if necessary. Meanwhile, Laubacher remains focused on her military background and policy positions as she races against one-time MAGA loyalist Boebert in what has become an exceptionally tight contest with nearly all votes counted.
