Switzerland Allows Xhaka, Embolo Back After Fake Docs Scandal

Granit Xhaka and Breel Embolo have been permitted to return to the Swiss national team following an investigation into their use of forged COVID-19 vaccination certificates. Both players were previously stripped from the squad for missing four Nations League matches after admitting to obtaining fake documents, resulting in a two-year suspension with no further offences required before eligibility is restored. The Swiss Football Association confirmed that both 34-year-old Xhaka and 29-year-old Embolo will be available for selection by manager Murat Yakin starting next month's fixtures against Slovenia and Scotland on November 13 and 16. National team director Pierluigi Tami stated the decision was made after considering legal proceedings, sporting consequences already implemented, and concluded that their return is responsible and correct.
