Caleb Flynn Murder Trial: Closing Arguments Begin Monday

The seventh day of testimony in the murder trial for Caleb Flynn concluded on Monday with both sides resting their cases, setting the stage for closing arguments to begin Tuesday morning. The former music pastor and American Idol contestant is charged with aggravated murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence after being accused of fatally shooting his wife while she slept and staging the scene to mimic a home invasion.

Ashley Flynn was shot twice in the head early Monday at their family home in Tipp City. During cross-examination, her mistress admitted yearslong infidelity but expressed hatred toward Flynn and belief that he murdered his spouse after receiving over 107,000 text messages from him. Prosecutors allege Flynn killed Ashley to be with his mistress while manipulating the crime scene so he would appear as a victim.

Flynn denied killing his wife during a police interview shown in court on Monday when asked point-blank if he did it; he responded no before being questioned further about the missing gun found at the scene. The defense rested without calling additional witnesses, and Judge Jeannine Pratt announced that closing arguments would start Tuesday.
