Korean Convenience Stores Sell Over 1 Million Smoothies

1K

Freshly blended fruit smoothies sold at South Korean convenience stores have generated strong demand, with Seven-Eleven's Japanese-original line surpassing one million cumulative units within six months of its launch. Available at approximately 300 nationwide locations, the made-to-order drinks are particularly popular in office districts and among foreign tourists. To maintain growth momentum, Seven-Eleven is introducing new products such as a matcha version targeting cream-based dessert demand and an ABC Smoothie blending apple, beet, and carrot for health-conscious consumers. Meanwhile, CU reported that sales of its six Real Smoothie flavors increased by 110.8% in June and July compared to the previous year; customers use dedicated machines to produce frozen fruit smoothies like mixed berry or strawberry-banana varieties in about one minute at roughly 300 stores with plans for further expansion. GS25, which entered the instant market first, saw an average of 25.5 cups sold daily during its initial test period and now offers flavors including mango-banana and green smoothie options as chains continue to expand their health-focused ready-to-eat lines.
